Our Story

Whilst it takes seconds to launch a buoyant pod and floating line over 80m, the patented Line Launcher took Kiwi Rescue 5 years to perfect.

Originally born of world-renowned Kiwi sailing ingenuity, Kiwi Rescue refined and perfected the Line Launcher with composite engineers, and finally specialist manufacturers.

Tested in labs, on land, lakes and the Pacific Ocean you can trust the Line Launcher to perform and endure.

You can see one of our early tests from November 2014 here in our blog. You can see how far the Line Launcher has evolved over the 5 years.

Using only the highest grade materials for performance and durability, the Line Launcher is manufactured under ISO 9001 QA standards.

Life-Saver

A life-saver is born. Situations arise quickly and unexpectedly. There’s limited time. The response needs to be quick and effective.

Truth is humans aren’t that good at throwing lifebuoys or ropes in an emergency. Even when the adrenaline is really pumping! 5-7m is an average when throwing a lifebuoy, according to safety experts. Give it a try and see how you get on.

Professionals who practice, like the fire and emergency services, may throw further, but not 80m+, and with accuracy.

Shocking too is the person in trouble isn’t the only one at risk. To save lives, we risk lives. Countering our lack of throwing ability, or lack of anything to throw, we get closer and that means ‘delivering’ the lifeline to ensure it arrives.

We see it all the time with Surf Lifesavers. Even Coast Guard vessels have a nominated swimmer. The rescuer has to place their life at risk and all too often the rescuer is the one that’s hurt or worse lost.

Line Launcher can help you respond quickly, accurately and reduce danger for those in trouble, and those responding.

Time-Saver

Through the development process, the more people we spoke to, the more uses we discovered for Line Launcher.

Nature or man-made structures need to be bridged or scaled, and we came across an ever-increasing list of commercial uses. Cases where Line Launcher could save time and often reduce risk.

Commercial usage including bridging gaps, launching over trees or buildings, up and over scaffolding. Where line launchers’ 80m+ reach, ease of operation and re-use came into their own.
