"Launches to the full 80 meters upwind into a 20 knot breeze"

Field Yachting Ltd was delighted to support ABSAR in saving vessels and lives by donating a Line Launcher by Kiwi Rescue.

Jonathan Cornelius, founder of ABSAR along with his colleagues were given a full demonstration and training session in Falmouth Harbour, Antigua, and all were impressed with the ease of use and practical applications of the Line Launcher.

ABSAR Antigua and Barbuda Search and Rescue is an essential, volunteer run not-for-profit organization that has saved many vessels and lives since it’s inception in 1996.

Here’s what ABSAR Antigua and Barbuda Search and Rescue had to say:

“ABSAR has researched various line launching devices for use in marine rescue over the years. Most options we have discovered are prohibitively expensive to purchase, bulky, and cumbersome. The traditional rocket powered devices are often too powerful and their pyrotechnics create its own set of hazards.

We have recently had the opportunity to obtain and use a Line Launcher [by Kiwi Rescue] provided by Field Yachting Ltd. This unit is the most affordable unit that I have come across. It only requires a 16g CO2 canister to launch a rescue pod and line to the full 80 meters. A relaunch can be accomplished quickly by either replacing the canister with a fresh one or we should that the line can be pulled into a bucket and the rescue pod reloaded and then relaunch the line directly from a bucket. We also found that it will launch to the full 80 meters upwind into a 20 knot breeze.

The Line Launcher allows for rapid deployment of a reusable and reliable rescue system. We look forward to utilizing the Line Launcher in our future rescue operations.'“

Of particular interest was the ability for the user to recharge the unit with a single 16g CO2 cylinder easily and effectively.
